The Prime Minister of India during his address to the nation on May 12, 2020 called for “Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan” or “Self‐reliant India Mission” and stressed on using “local products” (Kedia et al., 2020). Post Covid‐19, India mainly needs to focus on three themes. Accelerating job opportunities and job security, sustainable livelihoods, and economic growth should be the first focus of the government.

Women and girls represent half of the world’s population and therefore also half of its potential. But gender inequality persists everywhere and stagnates social progress.
